LPC: What’s your dream job?
MF: I actually read this quote the other day by Marianne Williamson and thought this is what a dream job should feel like - “success means to go to sleep at night knowing that our talents and abilities were used in a way that served others”
LPC: Favourite creative place/creative watering hole?
MF: I have two at the moment. The first one is outdoors, recently it's been in my back yard and under this beautiful tree at the park, me and my laptop, it's perfect. I also do a lot of creative work from my couch, I get to have cuddles with my fur babies this way too!
LPC: Most inspired when...
MF: I'm surrounded by positive people & energy - I love being around people who are passionate, alive & authentic- it's the best vibe and it's contagious. I also get really inspired when I have quiet and alone time (like being in nature) its like you can recharge and let the inspiration flow.
LPC: You feel most productive?
MF: Definitely in the afternoon - I tried for years to be a ‘morning person’ but it's simply not me…. I work best, get most of my ideas, and feel most awake in the afternoon.
My favourite time of the year is Christmas - I love how everyone starts to get a little more excited and happy for the holidays & it feels like everything is wrapping up and time to set new intentions, have a reflection of the year that was and start a fresh new year,I find it exciting!
LPC: When things don’t go 100%, what gets you through?
MF: I always try to remember that it's just temporary, nothing ever stays the same, sometimes it's a good reminder to just stop and step back and take a few moments to reassess - coffee outside helps too!
LPC: Who are your mentors and what have you learnt from them?
MF: My Mumma, she passed away a few years ago, But still to this day I continue to be taught by the amazing gifts she left behind, like, to trust and follow your heart! That anything is possible If you believe! That love and forgiveness are essential for a beautiful life.
Oprah, I love her- she is such an inspiration & a role model to the world (I love super soul Sunday)
More recently, Marie Forleo (I watch Marie TV regularly and I just love her thoughts & advice around what it is to run & create a heart entered biz).
LPC: What advice would you give to a young creative entrepreneur?
MF: It's going to be OK - you don't have to do everything right now. Trust that gut feeling, it's right! Also make sure your following your dreams not someone's else's dreams for you!
LPC: What can’t you live without?
MF: Hmmm….. I could come up with a few, But definitely coffee… I just love the stuff (organic or locally sourced is a must) to me the feeling of brewing a fresh coffee in the morning is just so beautiful - the smell and the taste… simple pleasure, love it!
LPC: What are the essential characteristics to make it in the Creative Industries?
MF: Attitude is everything! Never give up, keep trying, the challenges and hard times are all part of the process!
LPC: What is your current or next major project?
MF: Currently I'm working on the content for my new website (really excited about this) and also I'm working on a workbook for woman who want to live their greatest, fullest, lives through cultivating gratitude. I want to show woman that cultivating a gratitude practice can be fun & easy.
LPC: Best advice or quote that you live your life by?
MF: My Mumma’s quote " love first, forgive always " I try and take this into my day and come from a place of love with every decision I make in life. It's important to realise that it's about loving and forgiving ourselves too.
LPC: What are your hobbies?
MF: I love being in nature, swimming in freshwater, sitting on the beach and I love being with animals. I have a 15 year old blue heeler (Bluey) and a 5 year old Jack Russell (Gordon) they are such huge loves in my life.
LPC: Where do your ideas come from?
MF: Personal experiences, nature, and really wanting to be of service to others and to truly make a positive impact (I think we are all here to do the same~ just in different forms).
LPC: How would you define work/life balance?
MF: I would say that balance is an internal state - so for me work/life balance starts with creating morning or daily non negotiable routines or rituals – at the moment I meditate, write in my journal, practice being grateful everyday, connecting with nature and quiet time for myself - that way I can go out and face the day with a calm and centered heart, no matter the external circumstances.
